At the start of 2021, over and above our donation to Wise 4 Afrika, BettaBets sponsored the production of a video that seeks to educate the public on the legal services offered by Wise 4 Afrika, and how they’re able to help victims of GBV on their journey towards freedom and justice.
Gender Based Violence, as per President Cyril Ramaphosa, is South Africa’s second pandemic. And it requires the united efforts of us all to combat it. “We must all play our part in supporting survivors of gender-based violence and respect the rights of women and children in our families and in our communities,” says Ramaphosa.
South Africa has one of the highest rates of rape and femicide in the world, and over 60% of sexual assaults are not reported.
Every year, 1000’s of cases related to Gender Based Violence go unreported. Cases are not reported because of:
Without a report, law enforcement misses the chance to identify perpetrators in their community, repeat offenders go undetected, and more people are victimized.
“As a corporate citizen, we knew that more had to be done to fight GBV and felt the need to raise awareness of the legal support available through Wise 4 Afrika. We hope that this video inspires women who have shared similar experiences to these brave women to take their first step towards seeking the help they so desperately need“
– Smita Narsi, Bettabets CSI Consultant
We encourage the public to watch and share the video to help spread awareness.
Let us all work together to help create a #BettaLife for all.
