All 8 beneficiaries with certificates of donation from BettaBets
As a home-grown brand with a footprint spread widely across South Africa, BettaBets always sets out to find new ways to uplift society, empower people and better the communities in which we live and serve. We recognize that in these times of the Covid-19 crisis, many are experiencing financial hardships and other challenges.
It is, therefore, imperative now more than ever for the business community at large, to step in and engage in community outreach programs. This will ensure the survival, sustainability, and enhancement of those living in impoverished and marginalized areas around the country.
Acting with this knowledge, BettaBets, in collaboration with BettaBets Limpopo, held a CSI event where a donation of over R3 million worth of an array of goods was donated. The items ranging from refurbished furniture, fixtures, flooring, ceiling supplies children’s books and toys were donated to eight schools and educational foundations within the province.
Speeches were made by the various representatives present, followed by a certificate ceremony, lunch and entertainment, with the full Covid19 protocols observed. Moletsi FM provided the days’ live broadcast, while keeping the attendees jubilant and entertained was Obed Gospel group from Moledtji Village nearby.
Speaking at the event, the BettaBets Head of Marketing, Costa Carastavrakis, emphasized the brand’s value of giving back, stating “As a corporate citizen, nation building is also our responsibility, and empowering and improving disadvantaged communities is something we take seriously. We are driven to make changes within our reach, and we’re always looking out for opportunities to participate in initiatives that focus on community improvement. Gambling Boards have certain requirements that need to be fulfilled when it comes to CSI programs and investment amounts. Bettabets consistently match and overpass those figures as a general rule ensuring far reaching impact.”
Cynthia Masimula, Director at BettaBets Limpopo, also expressed her gratitude to the traditional leaders, stating “I would like to thank all the traditional leaders that played a major role in this project, and as BettaBets Limpopo we are looking forward to growing this relationship that we have with the community to secure it for future projects.”
The Limpopo donation is a major reflection of our commitment to our communities and their needs. With these actions, we seek to inspire a trickle-down effect in motivating other businesses to activate their engagement strategies with their surrounding communities, and become proactive in responding to their existing needs.
